Both of these bridesmaids are in the same wedding.I really like their mix of the saree colors. The saree jackets are nicely worked in few different colors to make a contrast. Also the broach is done to mach the work of the jacket work.

Home-Coming in Kandyan

This beautiful bride is dressed in red kandyan for her home-coming. The jacket has long sleeves with  work of the saree along the sleeve.

Sri Lankan bridesmaid dresses

This bridesmaids are dressed in blue and white mixed dresses. The tube-top style top has nice work on the top. A white band has used in the waist line to show the shape of the dress.

Bridesmaid in Kandyan

This bridesmaids are dressed in made-up kandyans.  The kandyans are in two colors. The saree jacket is as the same color as the saree border. Saree jacket has puffed sleeves and some stone work. The puffed sleeve is perfect for this bridesmaids as they are slim and have narrow shoulders. The jacket is done as a whalebone saree jacket and back is coded. This two colored kandyan has a yellow border  worked in pink and similar colors. But the other part is left plain.

Kandyan Bridesmaid

This Bridesmaid is dressed in a kandyan. This is a made-up kandyan in two colors. This kandyan doesn’t have lot of work done as the color red itself is very vivid. The shoulder has a nice work and it substitutes the broche.

Saree Jacket - Tube top saree jacket

As I promised all of you I’m posting one of my May creations. This whalebone strapless saree jacket is created for bridesmaids.  The back is coded and has a simple work. Really nice colors calm but at the same time very stunning. This colors gives the precedence to the bride and clearly maids look pretty but won’t take the eye away from the bride. Lot of brides ask when thinking about a jacket like this “will it fall down?” The answer is NO. Sure if the maid is not very used to a dress that is really open like this, she will be at a unease first but few hours will take the edge of it.

Bridesmaid saree color

For lot of  brides this is a very difficult problem. What should be the bridesmaid saree color?, Should I pick a dark color or a light color?, What are my options?.

Most of all you have to pick a color you like, in the end it’s your wedding. The saree color of the bridesmaids will be the color of your flower girls and the flower arrangements.

You will want your bridesmaids to look pretty in the saree they wear, but shouldn’t highlight them more than yourself. These days bridesmaids are almost all the time dressed in two colors. So you can mix a light color and a dark color or two shades of the same color.
Light blue, pale green, yellow and lavender are mostly used colors. Also it is a good idea to ask your bridesmaids what color looks best on them. And consider their skin colors and be careful when picking colors for darker skinned maids.

For the lighter yellowish skin tones I consider cool pastel colors, royal blue, blue greens, lemon yellow and fuchsia(light purple). And for the darker skinned maids orange based reds, golden colors and turquoise are good colors.

If your function is at night darker colors suits the best. And most of all talk to your beautician and get advice and tell what’s in your mind and present your bridesmaids. He or she will give you considerable amount of advice.

A SRI LANKAN BRIDESMAID

Stone worked saree jacket

In my opinion bridesmaids add an extra elegant to your wedding.  The colors of their dress or saree depends on brides taste most of the time. This bridesmaid saree and the jacket are in two different colors. But the stone work and the flower bouquet has blend this two colors and gave it a nice touch. I must mention the work in the saree jacket. I don’t glue any stone or sequin, all are individually sawn  in to the jacket. For those who doesn’t know much about  the difference, the glued work tends to fall off, in the end of the day you will lose few stones.  Also it looks messy as the glue can be seen. On the other hand sawn work is durable don’t have to be scared to wash and also very neat.  In here work is not much expand but got a very rich look.

It is really up to the bride and to the beautician to decide how the bridesmaid should dress.  This bridesmaids are dressed in kandyan. These are made-up kandyans in raw silk. And I beautifully worked the borders and the saree jackets while blending two colors. As the bridesmaids shouldn’t highlight very much the work is not very heavy but noticeable. The colors are very alive and traditional.
